Farmer guides

Keep your produce fresh until it is sold

Simple handling steps that cut losses between the field and the buyer.

  1. 1

    Harvest at the right time

Pick in the cool of the morning and avoid harvesting after heavy rain. Cool produce lasts longer.

  2. 2

    Sort and clean

Remove damaged or rotten pieces so they do not spoil the rest. Sorted lots also earn a better price.

  3. 3

    Keep it shaded and ventilated

Store in a shaded, airy place and use crates or baskets instead of tight sacks for soft vegetables and fruit.

  4. 4

    Plan the pickup

Post only what you can hand over within a day or two, and say when it is ready. Fresh produce sells fastest.
